    Health insurance in the US developed in the early 20th century. The first recognized health insurance program came from Bayor University. Up until the 1960's the majority of Americans who had health insurance were only covered for hospital expenses, and were not covered for Doctors services rendered outside of a hospital. The 1970's became a decade where medical science had advanced to the point where fewer individuals required hospitalization, people were recieving effective treatments from their doctors before their health conditions compounded.
